I have been working on getting my thoughts together for the Living with Landyn Live show and the leave behind book that each attendee will take home with them.  While writing the information for the fashion section I focused a lot on the word effortless.  Effortless style is the guiding motto I have for when I am shopping or styling an outfit for myself.  I am naturally drawn to simple, clean lines without a lot of detail and fuss, so it does make dressing in a way that projects an effortless overall look easier. But here is the thing about effortless style, it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t require effort.  In fact, it sometimes requires more effort because it requires restraint.

EASY AS 1…2…3…

Today I want to talk specifically about effortless style in our daytime, around town wear.  How many of you are guilty of heading out the door in a faded pair of yoga pants and an oversized t-shirt?  Or your work-out shorts and a mismatched shirt?  Trust me, I know and have been guilty of the same.  You think, oh I am just running to the post office or to grab the dry cleaning and you throw on whatever you have laying around.  I am guilty of thinking, “well I don’t want to waste a whole nice outfit on just a couple of quick errands”.  I totally feel you.  But here is the thing.  I always feel so much better about myself when I look pulled together.  Notice that I didn’t say dressed up.  I can still be very casual and comfortable in what I am wearing, but still look stylish.

This outfit is a perfect example of this.  I am wearing joggers, a black tank top, and sneakers.  Basically I could be going to the gym, but it ends up looking like a really cute, casual outfit.  One of the key components of effortless style is wearing the basics, but then having one thing that sets the outfit apart.  It can be something as simple as the way a pair of pants is cut, the roll of your sleeve, or a statement necklace.  It doesn’t necessarily have to be a big thing, but it is the element that makes people notice what you have one.

Tank | Joggers | Jacket | Shoes | Bracelets

For me, that piece in this outfit is this fun denim jacket with the unexpected addition of the sweatshirt hoodie.  I love the layered look of this jacket and that it ups the “cool factor” of this basic athleisure outfit.   I also wanted to mention that these joggers are a little bit dressier than a pair that I would lounge around the house in.  They are made of a crepe material and the cut is a little more tailored looking.  They are made by a brand called Trouve that I absolutely love and is exclusive to Nordstrom.  If you are ever looking for good basics at a reasonable price, I would definitely head in to Nordstrom or check out Trouve on their website. It would be so easy to take them straight into nighttime wear by just adding a different shoe and a blazer.

TWO MORE LOOKS

Here are two other examples of effortless daytime outfits. Guaranteed to help you look and feel pulled together.
