I promise that I am not going to take every picture from now on in my new closet.  I am just so obsessed with the space, and the beautiful light that it gets, that I just can’t help myself.  For those of you asking, a full closet tour is coming at the end of next month.  I am just waiting for a couple of pieces to be delivered and installed.  Today I am going to talk about two kind of random things, outfit planning and leopard as the new neutral.  I know they don’t really go together, but stick with me.

WHAT I’M WEARING

We have to start with these shoes.  Guys!  I CAN NOT even.  They are so chic and I love them.  You know that I love a good neutral and I am here to tell you that leopard is 100% a neutral.  I know that sounds crazy, but the definition of a neutral is that the piece works with both color and pattern.  Leopard does just that.  My only piece of advice is to be careful of material choice and length/style.  Leopard print is a pretty sexy print, so you want to avoid anything too tight or too short because that can steer you in a direction you don’t want to go.  Also, make sure the material is a good quality because nothing screams cheap like a leopard print in a lower quality fabric.

Let’s be honest though, I am never going to bust out a leopard dress or pair of pants, so I like to stick to leopard accessories.  That is why when I was perusing the Sole Society website, these leopard smoking flats jumped off the screen at me.  I love that the leopard print is a smaller print, which in my mind makes it even more of a neutral.  I also LOVE the detailing of the black band across the top of the shoe and down the heel.  It breaks the pattern up some and gives the shoes some dimension.  Here is the best part…they are less than $100!  Sole Society always comes through in a clutch with great quality, on-trend items that don’t break the bank.  If I could recommend only one statement shoe for the season, these shoes would definitely be it!

 outfit planning

Planning my outfits and getting dressed is so much easier…and more fun in my new closet.  When we were packing for our last minute trip last week it was so awesome to be able to lay everything out where I could see it and them hang different pieces to see possible outfit combinations that I wanted to take with me.

I can’t tell you how much easier and quicker it is to get dressed when everything has a place and I know where everything is.  As I showed you in my purging and organizing post, I group all of my clothing together by color and type.  It makes it so much easier to find.  I know not everyone has a closet this large, or even a walk-in closet for that matter, but the same rules still apply.  In fact, if you are dealing with limited space it is even more important.

One of the features we added in the new closet is these hooks that allow me to hang up my outfits to see them all together.  Obviously I shoot clothing quite a bit for the blog, and I like to see all of the different looks pulled together when I am planning on what to shoot.  When I was planning the look for this outfit I wanted to go with something really monochromatic so that my leopard loafers would pop.  I picked up this black cocoon wrap and this awesome black tote bag that you can wear crossbody.  The wrap is the perfect piece to grab as a transition piece that you can wear going in to spring…if spring ever comes.  I love the crossbody because it has a pouch that goes in the purse that you can store all those hard to find items that always seem to get lost in the bottom of the purse.

Thank you to Sole Society for sponsoring this post.  As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.  Thank you to all of you that support the brands that help make Living with Landyn possible.
