Oh, girls….. drop me off on a deserted island, but don’t leave me there without concealer + foundation and a jar of peanut butter. I’m serious. These are things I would need to survive. Forget water and shelter, because if
my face doesn’t have that flawless look and feel, I don’t wanna live!

I can’t begin to tell you how many emails and comments I’ve gotten about my complexion. First off, THANK YOU for all the kind words. But, I must let you in on a little secret. It’s not ‘perfect’, ‘even’ or ‘pore-less’. Surprise!
Yes, my mom taught me how to take care of it at a very young age. My dad’s Cherokee Indian heritage and SUNSCREEN {that’s an entire post in itself} just might have a thing or two to do with it. But, I’ve also found the right products to help me get here.

Today, I’m sharing all the deets with you and a curated list of my favorites products and when I use them. I pretty much stick to my favorites, but I’ve been known to try new things. I mean, how else would you know if there’s something better out there? I’m what they call a PRODUCT JUNKIE with LOYAL tendencies.

WHAT’S UNDER MY EYES

These are the three concealers I use. Usually not all together, unless it was a really late night and I look like death. I like them for different reasons. First, I never apply any of these without a little dab of Bobbi’s Hydrating Eye Cream.
It helps everything go on smoothly and not appear dry after application. Also, you never want to pull on that precious under eye skin. We’re all trying to keep it from stretching and loosing it’s elasticity anyhow. So, be gentle and use your ring finger to apply. The Corrector– for just that, correcting and hiding. It’s peachy tone helps to cancel out the darkness under the eyes. The Intensive Skin Serum Concealer- is newer to my lineup, but I’m diggin’ it. I love the way it really brightens under my eyes, while hydrating. Lastly, my baby, The Creamy Concealer– EVERY DAY. Never leave home without it. I’m talkin’ not even to the mailbox without it. Got it?

WHAT’S ON MY FACE

Ok, foundation. It wasn’t until about 5 years ago that I starting wearing this stuff. To me it was for my grandmother, but maybe she really did have all the answers. Yep, Jolene knows her stuff. Or maybe I’m getting older?
Either way, I love it and feels like a drink of water for my skin. I love the coverage foundation
gives and if you get the perfect match you’ll be a believer. Trust me.
Again, I own all four of these, but apply for different reasons and during different seasons. I’ll explain….
The Foundation Stick I use daily. I use it like a crayon and draw all over my face and play connect the dots with my spots, blemishes and imperfections. Blend with a brush (below), don’t roll your eyes. They are there, but you can’t see them because of these magic trick products below. Keep listening. Next up, the Tarte Amazonian Clay Tinted BB Moisturizer. This stuff is AHH-MAZING! I use it everyday. I mean, Everyday. It can be layered, depending on how much coverage you’d like. It’s creamy and light and then sets to an almost powder like finish. Same goes for the Amazonian Full Coverage, it has just that, way more covering power. I use it for going out + special events, photographs, film etc. And my new Summer fave, The Water Foundation. Talk about a drink for your skin…It blends so well and feels so light, almost like you’re not wearing any makeup at all. Plus an added SPF. Total bonus. Perfect for those hot and sticky Nashville summers.

WHAT Do I USE TO APPLY

Ahhhh, the tools. Yep, need those. I’ve spent (embarrassed to say how much) on expensive brushes, then about 2 years ago a makeup artist told me about these Real Techniques brushes, and said they are the best on the
market.. All true. The company was started by two talented gals, read their story here.
So, like any good product junkie and a girl always on the hunt for the next best thing, I ran out and bought them. The next day I got rid of all my brushes. End of story. Best part, they are really inexpensive, and made of such quality. They can be found at your local drugstore too. I really can’t say enough about them. I’m still on my first set if that tells you anything. And you gotta have a little sponge for blending those tight corners, like the side of your nose or inner part of your eyes. Good to have one of those on hand at all times.

Later pretty girls!

Which of the two brushes for the stick? And which one for the more liquid foundations? Thanks lovely xoxoxo

Draw on your face with stick and blend with Expert Face brush or sponge. They are all really interchangeable. I use both really. Depending on the areas and where I need to get in those tight spots- corner of your nose etc. I recommend using your ring finger to apply the foundation under your eyes and blend. Great questions!

Hello Landyn! Do you use a primer on your entire face? I’m trying to minimize pores as much as possible and can’t figure out the perfect combination.

Rae-Ann

I purchased the Bobbi Brown foundation stick, and I absolutely love it! My makeup looks airbrushed!!

What is the difference between the different foundations and how do you decide which one to wear when?

Love this post (now don’t forget the nail polish one, too and kitchen gadgets)! I use the bobbi brown corrector, but guess I should be using the concealer. I see it has two things in the case. So, do you use both and use these along with the corrector?

Thanks for all the tips!

livingwithlandyn@gmail.com

Ha! I know it. I’m on it. Nah, not really. I feel like the setting powder makes it crease, at least on me. I just use it solo. Thanks for always following along! Xx
