I got this recipe from Fresh Daily Eggs Blog – she’s a great resource for all things chickens! This past weekend I made it for the girls and they LOVED it. I’ll attach her recipe below!

Breakfast of Champions: Chicken Feed Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 40-50 lb. Chicken Layer Feed
  • 10 cups Flock Flax
  • 4 cups Sunflower Seeds
  • 2 cups Rolled Oats or Hull-less Oat Groats
  • 1 1/2 cups food-grade Diatomaceous Earth
  • 1 cup Brewers Yeast and Garlic Powder
  • 1 cup Probiotic Powder
  • 1/2 cup Coop Kelp
  • Optional Add-ins:
  • 2 cups Cracked Corn or scratch grains (best during the winter, omit in summer)
  • 2 cups Dried grubs, (most beneficial during the fall molting season)
  • 1/2 cup Cayenne pepper (helps with circulation during cold months, helps repel rodents)
  • 1 cup dried peppermint (helps repel rodents, digestive aid, thought to be a laying stimulant)
