As my kids are getting older, we want Christmas to be more about experiences and less about gifts.  This year, we decided to spend some time together off the map and secluded in Montana. We stayed at The Resort at Paws Up after hearing about it from some of my friends who visited during the summer and fall.  I don’t know if anyone had watched Yellowstone, but after this trip I want to sell everything and move to Montana!

Where We Stayed

It is an easy flight into Missoula and once you get to the airport, they pick you up and drive you to your house to get settled. The property is a family-owned working cattle ranch that is over 37,000 acres!  You get your own car included in your stay since everything is so spread out. There is ton of hiking trails to explore as well, but it is nice to be so secluded from everything. The food was fantastic! There are 3-4 restaurants to rotate between. I can’t even begin to stay enough good things about the over all vibe of the place. Loved the feeling of the West- ALL THE TEXTURE. There were tons of bison and elk all along the property! This was the perfect place for us to get away and relax for a few days. They do have wifi, but I had everyone give me their phones so we could disconnect and enjoy each other.

 What We Did

Like I mentioned before, there is SO much to do on the property. We loved Fat Tire Biking and the ATVs – it would have been snowmobiling, but there was not enough snow at the time.  Cattle croquet was the BEST thing we did. I mean, we would have done that all day every day, but didn’t end up doing it till the end of the trip. You go into a barn and each get on horse, it is kind of like a game where you coral the one-year old yearlings into different gates and shoots. It was all about teamwork and we all laughed are heads off- seriously, so fun! There is also a spa on the property, but we didn’t go! I have a whole highlight on my Instagram showing everything we did on the trip, so be sure to check that out as well!

This truly was the best gift we could have given each other! We loved it so much and will never forget it! Crossing our fingers we can go back this summer and experience camping along the Black Foot River. Be sure to check out The Resort at Paws Up on Instagram to see more about the property!

I’m about to book this trip for my family of 4. 2 teenage boys and my husband. I was all set but now my husband doesn’t think we should because of the lack of snow and they are wanting to do more snow activities. We’re y’all able to do any snow activities when you went. Any info you can give me would be great or advice.
