The Fourth of July is the back yard burger holiday of all holidays. Of course I like to dress in America’s colors, but when you think red, white and blue, it feels a little limiting. I don’t usually go as far as wearing a flag t-shirt or anything, but I like the look of cut off jean shorts, a red tank and a cute hat, or a light gingham print sundress. Don’t over-think it!
I like the fireworks to be much louder than my outfit. Ditch that Old Navy t-shirt you have worn every year since 2002 and get something that says USA, but doesn’t scream it. Light wash colors, blue or white jeans and a cute sandal is simple and will easily add to your wardrobe for the rest of the summer.
And don’t forget how hot is going to be…make sure whatever you pick is light and comfortable. Because when you are already getting a little sticky, being in clothes that itch or ride up only makes it ten times worse.
Crack open a beer, grab yourself a burger and celebrate the Fourth of July in a cute, simple outfit. I mean we all love that flag, but a wrapping myself in a flag print dress doesn’t cut it for me. Stay cool, look cute and have a great time celebrating Independence day with all your friends and family!
