Ladies, have you ever been just a little tired and overwhelmed from trying to be all the things all the time?!
The pause of the world in 2020 brought so many things in my life to a screeching halt I didn’t know I needed.
I was able to find a rhythm of simplicity that I hadn’t even realized I was missing.
And let me tell you – one constant inspiration in my life during this time was writer and designer – Jamie Varon.
If you haven’t seen her instagram, you are missing out!!
She just provides these little rays of sunshine EXACTLY when you need it. Let me give you an example here:
See what I mean?
And this is why I just KNEW I had to have Jamie on the podcast this season.
In 2009, Jamie was on CNN Live and featured in Fortune for creating a viral website called Twitter Should Hire Me (spoiler – they didn’t hire her). From there, Jamie co-created an online branding course, built an iOS app called Paper’d and became Editorial Advocate and Senior Writer for Thought Catalog. Now, her first book, ‘Radically Content,’ is now available everywhere.
Named Book of the Week by Maria Shriver’s The Sunday Paper and one of the most-anticipated books of 2022 by POPSUGAR!, Jamie’s book is the respite from the chaos of our current world when you’ve had enough with trying to be “enough.”
In this episode, Jamie is breaking down the exact steps to transform your mindset from self judgment to self love – without the fluff.
Let me give you some highlights here:
Steps to begin transform into a self love mindset:
- Start to shift your mindset to think about your wellbeing. Stop focusing on the achievement, stop placing a milestone on your happiness, and create your own value system by focusing on what actually makes you feel a sense of excitement. Wellbeing comes first before your success.
- Release the pressure – because you don’t need pressure to perform your best work. Put the expectation of fun on your next task before diving in and watch how your creativity blossoms.
- Gain awareness and take notice to be a gentle observer of your life. The opposite of curiosity is judgment. This will help you to listen to yourself, which helps you trust yourself, which is the first step to self love.
Like all of us, Jamie’s story isn’t linear. She tried multiple different avenues to find her happiness, until she realized there was no external success or milestone that was going to help her get there.
So if you’re in the middle of figuring out what makes you actually happy and you’re ready to do it the right way, this episode is here to be your guide.
